Master Artisan
Dale Robbins
Dale found woodturning to be his means of expression.  Dale designed and built a custom lathe that is currently one of the largest in the country.  The artist and the lathe were featured in an article in Fine Woodworking magazine in April of 1996 and in Wood Magazine in 1997.  The large size and design of the lathe allows Dale to create large and unusually spectacular sculptural wall hangings and stand alone pieces.  Dale also designed and customized many of the turning tools used in the turning process.
The woodturning begins with finding highly burled wood that is distinctive in size, shape and character.  Each piece is then turned to bring out the innate character and individuality of the wood.  Various techniques that Dale has developed himself are incorporated into the design.  The individual piece may be enhanced with carving, or inlaid with various metals or animal horns, etc.  Various oils, paints and patina finishes are utilized as well.  The final result is a dynamic sculptural piece that is the unique expression of the artist.  The wall hangings range in size from small to quite large and are striking on any wall but especially in an entrance, focal wall or fireplace, dining room and even above headboards.  Many of his pieces are currently displayed as well in corporate offices, conference rooms, lodges & manscaves.
Dale is a member of the American Association of Woodturners and has served as past President of the Omaha Chapter.  He has worked with and been inspired by some of the best-known turners and is himself a qualified instructor.  Dale’s works have sold all over the world.
Dale has had the privilege of participating in many of the best fine art shows in the country and has won several awards and placements.  His work is available for custom or commissioned work as well.
Dale Robbins is a Professional Woodturner.  He has been working with wood and wood design for most of his life.   The artist was influenced early on in his school years to work with woods.  This led him into a successful remodeling business that specialized in Custom woodworking, cabinetry and furniture building.  The business sparked his interest in the beauty and artistry of working with wood.  This led him to exploring other ways to express or release the natural beauty in the wood.
